How to Remember a Different Password for Everything

Using the same password for every website, service, and mailing list you sign up for is a serious security risk. Even if you use a different password for your bank account, you’re only marginally ahead of the crowd. One of the most common solutions to this problem is the suggestion to create a base password, upon which you expand using a simple algorithm to create a unique password for each account.

Geek News Central has a description of two such method for remembering many different passwords: using the number of vowels in the site name to determine password length, and adding specific characters from the site address to your base password.
